About Hypnosis

At the A1 Natural Therapy Centre Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis for therapeutic purposes and behavioural change. it works on the principle that trance is a naturally occurring state which humans engage in each day. In this state, the mind is open to suggestion. Positive suggestions for behavioural change are then most likely to be accepted by the subconscious mind. With hypnotherapy a person can also use this state, through mental and physical relaxation to gain insights into problems bringing about beneficial change. Clients are taught self-hypnosis to further empower them in challenging situations.

Contrary to popular myth, hypnosis does not imply giving the therapist control of your mind. You the Client are never out of control, you are in full control and fully aware at all times, although physically and mentally relaxed. Hypnosis is a state of guided relaxation and focused attention. In this state of heightened awareness positive suggestions easily and naturally achieve postive goals.

Hypnosis is a natural state and non-addictive, it is also one of the safest types of therapy. Hypnosis is very like day dreaming or feels similar to becoming totally absorbed in a good book or film. You are always in full control and you can easily take yourself out of hypnosis at any time. You will not do or say anything that conflicts with your own moral or religious code.

Questions and Answers about Hypnosis

These are some of the most common questions and answers about Hypnosis that we get asked at the A1 Natural Therapy Centre:

Is Hypnosis Safe?

Yes. It is a safe, natural process and part of the human experience. Always protected by our subconscious, trance is part of every day life. We are already proficient in its use, we simply do not recognise it.

In hypnosis will I lose control?

No. In hypnosis you will enjoy greater control than in the conscious state.

Could I be influenced to do anything against my will or nature?

No. In fact you would be shocked out of the hypnotic state immediately if any such action was suggested to you.

Can I use hypnosis as an alternative to seeing my GP?

The answer is no. It is not an alternative to seeking proper medical attention. Hypnosis is a complementary therapy and should, where needed be used in partnership with conventional medicine. Your Doctor's expertise in diagnosis cannot be replaced by a hypnotherapist. Always check out your health problems with your Doctor.

Is my problem too trivial to be bothered with?

Any problem which affects our lives is not trivial.

Hypnotherapy

There are two entirely different treatments using conscious hypnosis:

Suggestion Therapy:

Suggestion therapy is used for simpler problems such as smoking, nail-biting, pre-test nerves, slimming, relaxation etc which require only one or two sessions.

Analytical Therapy:

Analytical Therapy which is used to discover cuases of psychological problems. Emotional problems respond particularly well to conscious 'hypno-analysis', the object of analysis, is to bring you to the moment of surprising and liberating enlightenment.

For IBS 5-6 sessions will be required.
